Baseball Defeats Tampa JV
State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota outslugged the University of Tampa JV squad for a 10-6 victory, powered by a monster performance from Ben Ryan and a relentless offensive attack.
Ryan dominated at the plate, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two home runs and six RBIs to lead the Manatees. The two-way standout delivered key hits throughout the game, including a late three-run homer that helped put the contest out of reach.
SCF finished with 15 hits as the offense stayed productive from top to bottom. Dominic Woodward continued his hot stretch with a 3-for-5 performance, scoring three runs and driving in another, while Ryan Kaitz added two hits, including a double, and crossed the plate three times. Holden Brauner chipped in two hits and an RBI, and Will Rawls added two hits of his own with a run driven in.
The Manatees jumped out early with six runs against Tampa starter Gabe Wheeler, taking advantage of timely hitting and pressure on the bases. Although Tampa JV rallied for five runs in the second inning after drawing multiple walks, SCF's bullpen stabilized the game and prevented any further comeback.
Aidan Ray earned the win with two scoreless innings in relief, striking out three. The SCF pitching staff combined for 13 strikeouts despite issuing 10 walks. After a rough early stretch, the bullpen settled in as Cole Dement, Vincent Cooke, and Ben Ryan closed out the final innings without allowing a run.
University of Tampa JV managed only three hits but capitalized on free passes to stay competitive early. Devin Goldberg and Jack Irvine each drove in runs, while the Spartans drew 10 walks overall.
