Baseball Takes Two of Three From Eastern Florida

Game 1

State College of Florida came away with a high-scoring 13–5 win over Eastern Florida State College, powered by a balanced offensive attack and strong pitching from Bernard Barnes.

SCF put together a 20-hit performance, led by Josh Castellani, who went 3-for-6 with a double, triple, and 4 RBIs, and Karson Grout, who added three hits and two RBIs. Ryan Kaitz contributed three hits and two RBIs, while Dominic Woodward, Steele Burd, and Will Rawls each drove in runs, helping SCF build an early lead and maintain consistent scoring throughout the game. The team also showcased speed on the bases, with Kaitz, Rawls, and Calin Heath each recording stolen bases.

Eastern Florida State College had some bright spots offensively, with Shane Thomas hitting two home runs and driving in four RBIs, and Jackson Wargo going 4-for-5 with a double. Omir Santos contributed an RBI and a sac fly, but the Buccaneers' pitching staff could not contain SCF's aggressive lineup.

On the mound, Bernard Barnes earned the win, allowing five runs over 7.2 innings with nine strikeouts and two home runs allowed, while Andrew Raucci and Ben Ryan closed out the final two innings effectively. Eastern Florida's pitching struggled early, with Bradley Link giving up seven runs over five innings, and despite Jacob Goldman striking out seven over four innings, it wasn't enough to overcome SCF's offensive firepower.

Game 3

Baseball earned an 8–3 victory over Eastern Florida State College behind timely hitting and strong pitching.

SCF's offense produced 11 hits with contributions up and down the lineup. Dominic Woodward led the way, going 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Josh Castellani added two hits and an RBI, while Holden Brauner, Steele Burd, Bernard Barnes, and Joshua Reiter each drove in runs to pad the lead. Karson Grout also contributed a double, and Will Rawls stole three bases, giving SCF extra speed on the basepaths.

Eastern Florida had a few standout performances despite the loss. Shane Thomas hit a home run and drove in a run, while Ray Yero added an RBI. Jake Richardson and Jackson Wargo both recorded stolen bases, but the Buccaneers were unable to match SCF's consistent run production.

On the mound, Riley McDonald pitched seven strong innings, allowing just two runs on six hits with four strikeouts, earning the win. Vincent Cooke closed out the final two innings, surrendering one run but keeping SCF in control. Eastern Florida's starter Couper Gatch struggled early, giving up six runs over 4.1 innings, and reliever Shane Patrick allowed two more, leaving the Buccaneers unable to recover.
