SCF Baseball wins three out of four in the Visit Panama City Beach Tournament in Panama City, FL.
Vs. Georgia Highlands College
The Manatees' bats erupted in a big way, scoring 22 runs on 16 hits in a run-rule shortened 5-inning game. SCF would take a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning before giving up two runs in the top of the second. After increasing the lead to 4-2, SCF scored an astonishing 18 runs in the third inning. All but one SCF hitter recorded at least one hit. The lineup was bolstered by Josh Castellani who went 3-4 with two doubles and 5 RBI. Ryan Kaitz and Will Rawls each had three RBI, tying for second on the team for the afternoon. Dominic Woodward and Will Rawls each went deep for the Manatees.
SCF received a strong outing from Bernard Barnes. Barnes pitched four innings, giving up two runs, and struck out four. Vincent Cooke came on in relief of Barnes and pitched a scoreless fifth inning to end the game.
Vs. Chatahoochie Valley Community College
After securing their first win on the season against Georgia Highlands College, the Manatees went right back to work to quickly secure their second win. The offense provided enough run support for starter Cole Dement, who was outstanding in this one. Dement pitched five innings of shutout baseball, giving up just three hits, and striking out 8. Baden Wallace relieved Dement in the 6th inning and secured the shutout by providing two innings of scoreless relief.
The SCF offense scored in each of the first three innings. Ben Ryan provided the big hit when the offense needed him most, hitting a two-run home run to put the game out of reach. Ryan and Joshua Reiter provided the Manatees two extra-base hits.
Vs. John A. Logan College
SCF ended the road trip on a high note, riding a three game winning streak. The team got off to a blistering start in this one, scoring six runs in the first inning. Mattie Counts, Ben Ryan, and Dominic Woodward each went yard for the Manatees. Woodward's blast was a grand slam. Mattie Counts and Ben Ryan paced the SCF offense -- Counts had three hits from the leadoff spot while Ryan was a perfect four for four.
Aidan Ray received the start and earned his first win. Ray allowed two runs in four innings pitched, striking out 5. Riley McDonald pitched three innings in relief.
