Puls became Acting Athletic Director on 1/8/2022. She has served as Assistant Director or Athletics, Coordinator of Student Life, and Assistant Softball Coach. She brings an extensive knowledge of the athletic administration and student life.
A 1998 graduate of the University of Maine (UM), Puls held career records for games (178), at bats (527), runs (105), hits (184), most doubles in a season and season marks for doubles (16), and runs (39). She was the first player to earn Conference Player of the Year honors in consecutive seasons (1997 and 1998), received Co-America East Player of the Year in 1997 and 1998 with .406 and .381 batting averages respectively, and was selected to the All-Northeast Regional and New England College Coaches Association All-Star first team in 1997 and second team in 1998. She served as the interim head coach in 2005 after five seasons as UM’s assistant coach.
Puls was an assistant coach and defensive specialist at Indiana University (IU) when its team broke several school records: first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1996; 40 home runs in a season; shattered a 20-year-old record for single-season fielding percentage in 2006 (.968) and again in 2007 (.973) while committing the fewest errors in a season. In 2009, she received her master’s degree from IU.
