Softball sweeps Palm Beach State College 7-1 and 9-1
BRADENTON, Fla.- The State College of Florida softball team won both at home against Palm Beach State College. SCF won 7-1 in seven and 9-1 in five innings. Megan Schwietert earned both wins on the mound as the Manatees improved to (22-8) this season.

BRADENTON, Fla.- The State College of Florida softball team won both against Palm Beach State College. SCF won 7-1 in seven and 9-1 in five innings. Megan Schwietert earned both wins on the mound as the Manatees improved to (22-8) this season.
In game one, the Manatees scored in the first, second, fourth and fifth innings. Chelsea Wildey, Cindy Micochero and Kat Penn all had multiple hits. Wildey continued her hitting streak with two doubles and two RBI. Megan Schwietert fanned five batters and local talent, Taylor O'Quinn struck out six for the save.
In game two, Jaice Metherall sparked a 5-run first inning rally with a grand slam over the left centerfield fence. Ashley Burney had two RBI on a home run in the fourth. The blast was Burney's seventh of the season. She is six home runs shy of tying SCF Head Coach, Meredith Headings', single season record of 13. Sophomore centerfielder, Kayla Bjorge, added an RBI and a stolen base. Freshman hurler, Kaira Robison, had her college debut on the mound and earned her first save.
SCF is 22-8 and host Illinois Valley Community College on Saturday at 10am and 12pm.
