It was a total surprise for Headings, who is entering her sixth season as the Manatees head coach.

The former Manatee High star was inducted along with past baseball players David Moates, Robin Flake and Glenn Davis into SCF's Hall of Fame on Friday.

Meanwhile, Moates and Flake had the opportunity to rekindle old memories during their time as teammates.

BRADENTON -- Teammates was the theme of last year's State College of Florida Hall of Fame ceremony.

And while two of this year's inductees, Robin Flake and David Moates, played together, the major theme revolves around active coaches.

Inductee Meredith Headings, a former Manatee High and Manatee Community College softball star, is the SCF head softball coach. Moates, who dazzled on the baseball field at the then-Manatee Junior College, is an SCF baseball assistant.

Former Houston Astros slugger Glenn Davis rounds out this year's class. Davis gained the most notoriety after leaving the school, starring for the Astros in the late 1980s. His best year was 1986, when he hit 31 home runs and drove in 101 runs, finishing second in the National League MVP balloting.

The sixth annual ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the school's Korcheck building.
