MLB DRAFT: Former Manatee, Austin Chubb, goes in 21st round
LAKELAND,FL- Catcher Austin Chubb was selected in the 21st round by the Washington Nationals on Day 3 of the MLB Draft. Chubb went to Florida Southern College after playing at State College of Florida. He was first-team All-Sunshine State Conference selections for the second straight year this season. Chubb hit .291 with eight home runs and 33 RBI. He led the team in doubles with 17. As a junior, he hit .295 with five home runs and 26 RBI. Austin was part of the 2010 FCSAA State Championship team at SCF and went to the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Chubb went to Florida Southern College after playing at SCF. He
was a first-team All-Sunshine State Conference selection for the
last two seasons at FSC. In his senior year, Chubb hit .291 with
eight home runs and 33 RBI. He had a team high 17 doubles. As a
junior, he hit .295 with five home runs and 26 RBI.
Chubb was part of the 2010 FCSAA State Championship team at SCF and went to the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado.
