Alex Burgos, 8th best prospect in Detroit Tigers' Organization
Baseball America recently ranked former Manatee, Alex Burgos, as the 8th Best Prospect in the Detroit Tiger’s organization. They also have projected him to be a No. 3 starter, but more realistically he'll be a No. 4 at the Major League level. Burgos pitched SCF to the 2010 Junior College World Series, earning JUCO all-America honors by going 13-2, 2.07 with 115 strikeouts in 100 innings. He has put up similar numbers in pro ball since signing as a fifth-round pick. He was one of the Midwest League's best pitchers. He will open the 2012 season in high Class A.
