FCSAA State Tournament: Co-MVPs Ashley Burney & Paige Mathews, 7 total earn All-Tournament honors
PENSACOLA, Fla.- The State College of Florida softball team not
only earned a berth to the NJCAA National Tournament in St. George,
Utah, they also landed seven players to the FCSAA All-Gulf District
Tournament team. The biggest honor of the tournament is the FCSAA
All-Tournament Most Valuable Player award. For the first time in
tournament history, officials were forced to name Co-MVPs. The
Co-MVPs both from SCF, were Ashley Burney and Paige Mathews. In
five games, Burney was 10-for-15 with 8 RBIS, three home runs and
the walk-off solo blast to send the Manatees to Nationals. Paige
Mathews had three wins, a save, and 34 strikeouts at the
tournament.
Filling up the All-Gulf District tournament team were Angie
Dascoli, Dani Wayt, Gianni Artidiello, Laura Taricano, Ashley
Brooks, Paige Mathews, and Ashley Burney.
The Manatees head to St. George, Utah for the NJCAA National
Softball Championships 5/16-5/19.
