Chelsea Oglevie commits to Florida Southern College
LAKELAND,FL- Sophomore pitcher, Chelsea Oglevie, verbally committed to Florida Southern College. Oglevie is a current captain and starter for the Manatees.
LAKELAND,FL- Sophomore pitcher, Chelsea Oglevie, verbally committed to Florida Southern College. Oglevie is a current captain and starter for the Manatees.
In 2011, Oglevie had a 2.34 ERA, appeared in 29 games, and had more than fifty percent of the Manatees' wins. Of the 29 games, she pitched five shutouts and 15 complete games. Her freshman performance earned her First-Team Suncoast Conferece All-Conference, SCF's "Bunky Enos Pitcher of the Year" Award, and unanimous team votes to be the 2011-2012 captain. She helped defeat Chipola College (2-1) in a do-or-die match-up at the 2011 FCSAA State Tournament. She struck out FCSAA Player of the Year, Ariel Van Hook, for the win.
During the 2012 season, Chelsea continues to help pave the way for the Manatees. She currently has a 1.25 ERA fanning 22 batters in 33.67 innings. She is (4-1) and defeated top 10 teams such as Tallahassee Community College, Sante Fe College, and Indian River State College.
SCF Head Coach, Meredith Headings, commented on Oglevie, "You cannot ask for a better player, student, and person than Chelsea. Her work ethic is relentless both on the field and in the classroom. She is a machine. She is a winner, plain and simple."
Oglevie will graduate with her Associates Degree in May and currently carries a 3.9 GPA.
