Offense explodes to give SCF Softball two wins over Polk State College, 9-0 and 5-1
WINTER HAVEN, Fla- SCF Softball won both conference games at Polk State College. The first victory came in five innings as Paige Mathews earned her 20th win on the mound for SCF. The Manatees scored one run in the first inning and eight in the second. The attack was led by Gianni Artidiello, Dani Wayt (2 RBIs), and Chelsea Wildey each who had two hits. Angie Dascoli added two RBIs and Ashley Burney crushed a three run home run to help SCF reach nine runs. The Manatees did not stop in game two. Kirstin Toole got the start and retired the first eight batters. Sophomore hurler, Chelsea Oglevie, threw five innings giving up only three hits and one run. The offense continued behind a 3-for-4 Gianni Artidiello, 2-for-4 Dani Wayt, and 2-for-3 Kat Gavern. Wayt had 4 RBIs on the night, and Ashley Burney smashed another solo home run in the sixth. SCF is now (37-9) and (6-2) in Suncoast Conference play.
