Coach Erickson comes to State College of Florida from Monroe College where he established
himself as a strong tactician of the game. Erickson’s team played in Hutchinson, Kan. at the NJCAA National Tournament for his final three seasons coaching at Monroe College. He has a track record of recruiting top talent from across the nation. In his time coaching at the junior college level, he recruited four NJCAA All-American and 21 All-Conference players. Academically, he has displayed a great deal of success as well. In the past five years, 22 of his 25 sophomores have graduated. During his college career, Erickson played two years at the University of Rhode Island under former Boston College coach Al Skinner before joining the basketball team at Assumption College in Worcester, Mass. There is no doubt that Coach Erickson possesses the basketball pedigree to re-establish SCF as a powerhouse in Florida and among NJCAA teams. With Coach Erickson at the helm, the Manatees look to restore the glory that has been enjoyed by the SCF basketball program.

SCF Basketball announces new Head Basketball Coach
(Bradenton, Fla., April 26, 2012) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) has named Brock Erickson as the SCF men’s basketball head coach. He assumes his position immediately.

Erickson’s coaching experience spans 11 years as an assistant coach that includes seven years in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I.

"I am thrilled to be a part of the State College of Florida family, and I thank SCF President Dr. Lars A. Hafner and Matt Ennis for giving me the opportunity to serve as the SCF men’s basketball head coach. We are committed to being the hardest playing team in the country, and we want to establish a culture of doing things the right way on and off the court," Erickson said.

Immediately prior to coming to SCF, Erickson, was the assistant men’s basketball coach and recruiting coordinator for the Mustangs at Monroe College in New Rochelle, New York. While he was the assistant coach, the team had a record of 147-28 and qualified for three consecutive national tournaments, including a third place finish in 2011 and fifth place finish in 2012. For much of the 2011-2012 season, Coach Erickson’s team was ranked No. 1 in the nation for the NJCAA Division I.

From 2004 to 2006, Erickson was the assistant coach at the College of Eastern Utah when the team had the highest win total over a two-year period in the college’s history. As assistant coach at City College of New York from 2001 to 2004, his team had the most wins in a season since 1950.

"We are excited to welcome Coach Erickson to SCF.  He has been an integral part of one of the premier NJCAA basketball programs in the country.  His basketball knowledge, focus on academic success, and his strong track record as a recruiter make him the right individual to return our program to its once glorious status," said Matt Ennis, SCF athletic director.

Jeff Brustad, men’s basketball head coach at Monroe College, commended Erickson for his five years of service and wished him success in his career as head basketball coach at SCF.

“His tireless work effort, knowledge of the game and loyalty will be missed. His efforts continued the success here at Monroe, and I'm confident he will make an immediate impact at SCF. Though we are sorry to see him go, we are happy for him as he branches off to start his bright future,” Brustad said.

During his college career, Erickson played two years at the University of Rhode Island under former Boston College coach Al Skinner before joining the basketball team at Assumption College in Worcester, Mass., where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Communications.
