Manatees Baseball Opens Conference in Thrilling Fashion

Bradenton, Fla - State College of Florida opened up Suncoast Conference play tonight with a 2-1 win over South Florida State College at Robert C. Wynn Field. 

South Florida scored a run in the top of the 1st inning and led 1-0 in the 9th inning.  Ryan Karstetter and Austin James hit doubles to tie the game and send it into extra innings.  Adam Imwalle delivered the game winning hit that scored Jaren Shelby in the bottom of the 11th inning. 

SCF starting pitcher Brendon Little was terrific, throwing 8 innings allowing only 3 hits while striking out 16 South Florida batters.  Reliever Bucky Bonynge was the winning pitcher as he threw 3 innings allowing no hits while striking out 6 as he retired all 9 hitters that he faced. 

Reilly Johnson and Karstetter each had 2 hits and were on base 3 times each. 

SCF improves to 15-8-1 overall and is 1-0 in Suncoast Conference.  The Manatees will play at South Florida State College Friday at 6pm.
