Russell was part of the team that won the state championship and went to the JUCO World Series in 2010.  He came out of the bullpen last year posting a 3.3 ERA in 38 innings.  He was selected to the FCCAA State Sophomore All-Star game this year. He played two years of varsity baseball at Lakewood Ranch where he won the Top-Gun Award (awarded to the pitcher with the lowest ERA) his junior and senior year. He pitched in the state championship game for the 2009 American Legion Post 24 State Championship team. He was named to the All-State Academic team last year and carries a 3.55 GPA while pursuing an associate degree at SCF.
