Registration for the 2015 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

State College of Florida is proud to announce the Hall of Fame class of 2015!

  • Stanley Cromartie played basketball for Hall of Fame coach, Harry Kinnan. In his freshman year, the point guard averaged 12 points and 4 assists while helping the Manatees post a school record for the most wins in a single season.  In his second year, Cromartie averaged 17 points and 4 assists per game.  He was named to the Suncoast All-Conference team in 1984. 
  • David Howard played baseball for Hall of Fame Coach Tim Hill from 1985-1987.  The Sarasota native played middle infield and helped the Manatees to a state runners-up position in 1986. Howard was drafted by the Kansas City Royals, making his major league debut in 1991.
  • Robin Jennings played baseball for Hall of Fame coach Tim Hill in 1991-1992.  Jennings won a Suncoast Conference Championship, FCSAA State Championship and played in the 1991 JUCO World Series.  Jennings was named to the All-tournament team at the World Series.  After SCF, the Chicago Cubs drafted him in 1992. 
  • Brian Newberry served as equipment manager at SCF for 19 years.  He is credited with establishing sports information for the college and facilitated communication with the community and media.  Brian worked behind the scenes to support SCF student-athletes on the court or field.  He was loved by students and staff alike for his warm, jovial, and welcoming personality.  Brian passed unexpectedly May of 2014.

On Thursday, January 22nd, 2015, State College of Florida will proudly welcome these four deserving inductees into to the Athletics Hall of Fame.  The ceremony will take place at IMG Academies Golf Club. There is a cocktail hour at 6pm and the dinner and induction will begin at 7pm.

Hall of Fame Logo

Purpose

To recognize and honor former outstanding SCF athletes for their contributions and achievements in athletics.

To recognize and honor individuals, athletes and non-athletes alike, for their service to and support of the SCF athletic program.

Criteria

Recipients are comprised of outstanding former student-athletes, athletic department personnel, friends and supporters of State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota. The SCF Athletic Hall of Fame not only recognizes the honorees, it also celebrates the College's rich athletic history.

Individuals considered must have competed at SCF, coached, or rendered extraordinary service to SCF athletics. Nominations may be made in any of the following categories:

Student/athletes who have distinguished themselves as members of State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota five or more years prior to the date of induction. In exceptional cases, former students will be considered based upon the individual's experience at SCF and career achievements.

Past SCF coaches with at least five years of service who have successfully distinguished themselves and their teams to truly reflect SCF's mission.

Past athletic administrators staff with at least five years of service who have achieved outstanding success in their tenure at SCF and serve as models to student-athletes with the traditions of honor, integrity and character or;

Friends who have provided distinguished and sustained support of the College and SCF athletics

In exceptional cases, an entire team may be recognized for achievement in past season play and/or distinguishing itself at the national level. Team recognition will be made at the discretion of the SCF Athletics Hall of Fame committee with approval of the Director of Athletics.
